Hwaseong City has set out to build an art museum representing Korea.

On the 24th, the city held a "Embarkation report on a feasibility study and basic plan establishment service for the construction of the Hwaseong Museum of Art" at the Dongtan branch and discussed the outline, schedule, and method of implementing the construction project.

Hwaseong Museum of Art is scheduled to be built by 2025 on a total area of 8,122㎡ of public 7 sites in Dongtan 2 New Town.

The city included ▲ feasibility analysis ▲ derivation of similar cases and application plans ▲ establishment of basic concepts and plans ▲ linkage plan of planned site of art museums construction ▲ development of exhibition programs and contents ▲ study on evaluation items of public art museums pre-evaluation, etc., in this service.

In addition, through the process of collecting opinions from local artists and citizens, Hwaseong City plans to establish its own unique and rich cultural heritage and lay the foundation for an art city.

Hwaseong Mayor Seo Cheol-mo said, "The Municipal Museum of Art will showcase various fusion and complex exhibitions and cultural events centering on design and art reflecting new trends," adding, "We will do our best to make it as a representative art museum in Korea beyond the region."

시는 24일 동탄출장소에서 ‘화성시립미술관 건립 타당성 조사 및 기본계획 수립 용역 착수보고회’를 개최하고 건립사업 추진 개요 및 일정, 수행 방법 등을 논의했다. 

화성시립미술관은 동탄2신도시 공공7부지 총 8,122㎡ 면적 약 2,457평에 오는 2025년까지 들어설 예정이다.

시는 이번 용역에 ▲타당성 분석 ▲유사 사례 및 적용방안 도출 ▲기본 구상안 및 계획 수립 ▲미술관 건립 예정부지 연계방안 ▲전시 프로그램 및 콘텐츠 개발 ▲미술관 운영 및 관리방안 ▲문체부 공립미술관 사전평가 평가항목 연구 등을 담았다. 

또한 지역 예술인과 시민 의견 수렴 과정을 통해 화성시만의 독특하고 풍부한 문화유산을 일구고 예술 도시로서의 기틀을 마련할 방침이다. 

서철모 화성시장은 “시립미술관은 새로운 트렌드를 반영한 디자인과 예술을 중심으로 다양한 융·복합 전시와 문화행사를 선보일 것”이라며, “지역을 넘어 대한민국을 대표하는 미술관이 될 수 있도록 최선을 다하겠다”고 말했다.
