On Sunday, March 5, 2017, the World Women's Day event was hosted by Ansan Immigration Center (CEO Park Chun-eung) and the Korea Multicultural Council (CEO Kook Joong-gil) and sponsored by the Multicultural Daily at the "Meeting Square" without borders in Ansan.

Celebrating the 109th anniversary of World Women's Day, civic groups, migrant women's organizations, local residents and 1,500 immigrants participated in the 2017 World Women's Day Festival on Wongok-dong Street (Meeting Square). The World Women's Day Festival began by attaching badges to local women merchants to promote the human rights of all women living in Korea.

In the opening speech of 2017 World Women's Day, Park Chun-eung, CEO of Ansan Immigration Center, said, "More than 4.5 million women work as non-regular workers, but more than 60 percent of them work in Korea." Numerous women are also working in areas where immigrants are concentrated in Wongok-dong, Ansan, but most of them are working poorly as non-regular workers. The Republic of Korea and Ansan City should be protectors of women's human rights who live under discrimination,' he said.

Kook Joong-gil, a standing representative of the Korea Multicultural Consultative Council, said, "Married migrant women are experiencing a surge in divorce rates due to their husbands' incompetence and violence, and multicultural adolescents are struggling due to the dual identity loss and social discrimination of other parents.

We should actively help multicultural teenagers who are born in Korea with my child, go to kindergarten, elementary school and high school, and serve in green uniforms as adults,' he said.

After remarks by women's rights workers from Ansan Women's Workers' Association, Wongok-dong Women's Merchant, CHI CHAO, Indonesia's Echo, Thailand's Wanachapun, Vietnam's Bitnea, Mongolian Women's Chairman Jimba, and Goryeoin Olga, he read the 2017 World Women's Day Declaration of Human Rights.

Starting with singer Lee Si-hyang's "Ansan Arirang," a North Korean song by a North Korean women's group called "Women Are Flowers" gained excitement. The traditional Russian dance performance and the Filipino performance team's bamboo dance and flower dance were cheered by the audience. Performances by Korean-Chinese compatriots "Han Areum Senior Citizens' Center," "Multicultural Church," and "Federation of Korean Residents" followed, and cultural performances by various migrant women such as "Thai Traditional Dance" and "Uzbeckistan Traditional Dance" shook people's hearts.

About 1,500 local residents and visitors participated in the event, and the event was completed by combining the world's women, ethnic Chinese, ethnic North Koreans, and ethnic Russians living in Ansan to experience global culture and build positive social networks such as psychological stability and adaptability to Korean culture.
