Suwon City will launch a "Snow Cleaning Campaign in front of My House, My Store" until March 15 next year in preparation for possible road freezing when it snows.

The "Snow Cleaning Campaign in front of My House, My Store" is to encourage citizens to clean up the snow accumulated in front of their homes and stores when it snows.

According to the Suwon City Building Manager's Ordinance on Snow and Ice Removal Responsibility, building owners, managers, and occupants must clear snow and ice from sidewalks adjacent to the building so that citizens can walk safely after snow stops. 

Suwon City produced 1,300 promotional materials for the "Snow Cleaning Campaign in front of My House, My Store" and "Citizen Action Guidelines for A Snowfall" and distributed them to the city and district civil service departments and the Dong Administrative Welfare Center.

If it snows, you should refrain from driving cars and use public transportation such as buses. Illegal parking along the road that interferes with snow removal work should not be performed.

An official from Suwon City said, "Citizens need to participate in the campaign to clean up the snow in front of my house and my store to prevent safety accidents caused by freezing on roads during the winter season."

He then said, "We will thoroughly prepare for heavy snow in winter, continue to check weather conditions, and systematically respond to initial snow."

수원시는‘내 집, 내 점포 앞 눈 치우기 운동’과‘강설 시 시민행동요령’ 홍보물 1만 300매를 제작해 시·구청 민원부서와 동행정복지센터에 배부했다.

눈이 오면 승용차 운행을 자제하고, 버스 등 대중교통수단을 이용해야 한다. 제설작업에 지장을 주는 도로변 불법주차는 하지 말아야 한다.

수원시는‘내 집 앞 눈 치우기 운동 홍보’를 비롯해 ▲제설장비, 자재 확보 ▲동절기 폭설 대비 사전 대응 훈련 ▲비상근무 체계 확립 ▲유관기관 등 협조 체제 구축 유지 ▲중점관리구역 평가등급 구축, 결빙 취약구간 재조사 ▲주요 작업노선 및 제설작업 담당 구간 지정 ▲전진기지 동절기 한시적 운영 ▲도로제설 유공자 포상 운영 등 9개 추진사항으로 이뤄진 ‘2021 동절기 도로 제설 종합대책’을 수립해 3월 15일까지 추진한다.

수원시 관계자는“겨울철 도로 결빙으로 인한 안전사고를 예방하려면 시민들의 참여가 필요하다”며“내 집, 내 점포 앞 눈 치우기 운동에 적극적으로 참여해 주시길 바란다”고 당부했다.

이어 “겨울철 폭설에 철저히 대비하고, 기상 상황을 지속해서 점검해 눈이 내릴 때 체계적으로 초동대처를 하겠다”고 말했다.
