Especially during the rainy season in July and August, more potholes appear as rainwater seeps into the asphalt.

So, where should you report these issues? The easiest method is through the Safety Report system. The Safety Report system allows anyone to easily report safety hazards they encounter in their daily life, anytime and anywhere.

Reports submitted through the system are quickly processed by the relevant authorities designated by the Ministry of the Interior and Safety.

To report a hazard, you can use the Safety Report website (https://www.safetyreport.go.kr/) or install the Safety Report app on your mobile phone. Safety hazards such as damaged road facilities, traffic safety issues, school safety concerns, and other safety risks encountered in daily life can all be reported.

Simply attach a photo or video of the safety hazard you witnessed, write a brief report, and specify the location on the map before submitting it.

For instance, I took a photo of a pothole I witnessed, used the Safety Report website to write a brief report, and marked the exact location on the map to request road repair.

By selecting the introduction menu on the Safety Report website and clicking on the status map menu, you can view the status of various reports in a specific area. It is a good idea to check for any existing reports before submitting a new one.

The Ministry of the Interior and Safety is operating a 'Summer Disaster and Safety Hazard Intensive Reporting Period' from June to August 31. Reports are being accepted for safety hazards such as flood risks in underground spaces due to heavy rain or typhoons, facility damage or issues at cooling centers due to heatwaves, and damage to water play facilities.

During the intensive reporting period, participants will have the chance to receive a mobile coupon worth 5,000 KRW through a draw.

특히나 7~8월의 장마철에는 도로의 아스팔트 사이로 빗물이 들어가 더 많은 포트홀이 발생하기도 한다. 

이런 경우 어디에 신고해야 할까? 가장 간편한 방법은 안전신문고를 통한 신고이다. 안전신문고는 국민 누구나 생활 주변의 안전 위험요인을 발견하면, 언제 어디서나 손쉽게 신고할 수 있는 시스템이다.

신고된 내용은 행정안전부에서 해당 기관을 지정하여 신속히 처리하도록 운영되고 있다. 

신고를 위해서는 안전신문고 누리집(https://www.safetyreport.go.kr/)를 이용하거나, 휴대전화에 안전신문고 앱을 설치해서 신고하는 방법이 있다. 생활 시설물, 도로 파손 등의 교통 안전 분야, 통학로 등 학교 안전 분야 등 국민이 생활에서 느낄 수 있는 여러 안전 위험요인 모두 안전 신고 대상이다.

이러한 안전 위험요인을 목격했을 때 찍은 사진이나 동영상을 첨부하여 간단한 신고내용을 작성하고, 지도상의 위치를 지정하여 제출하면 된다. 

나도 목격한 포트홀 사진을 찍어 안전신문고 누리집을 이용하여 간단한 신고내용을 작성하고 지도에 정확한 위치를 표시하여 도로 보수 요청을 했다. 

안전신문고 누리집에서 안전신문고 소개 메뉴를 선택한 후, 신고현황 지도 메뉴를 클릭하면 일정 지역 내의 유형별 신고 현황을 볼 수 있다. 신고를 하기 전에 동일한 신고 내역이 존재하는지 확인 후, 신고를 하는 것도 좋다. 

행정안전부에서는 6월부터 8월 31일까지 ‘여름철 재난. 안전 위험요소 집중신고 기간’을 운영한다. 호우나 태풍으로 인한 지하공간 침수 우려 요인, 폭염으로 인한 시설 파손이나 무더위 쉼터 불편 사항, 물놀이 시설 파손 등의 안전위험 요소를 안전신문고를 통해 신고받는다.

집중신고 기간 동안 신고에 참여한 국민은 추첨을 통해 모바일 쿠폰(5,000원 상당)을 지급할 예정이다.
