With the increasing number of double-income couples and the diversification of working types, Uijeongbu City plans to improve its night extension daycare centers operation by expanding anddesignating the centers from 40 to 45 within this year to ease the burden of childcare for parents who frequently work at night.

The night extension daycare center is a daycare center that extends the operation time up to 24:00after the standard childcare time (07:30 to 19:30), and night extension childcare fees are fully supported by the state. For the extended childcare, guardians of children who receive extended childcare fees for 0-2 years old, Nuri information childcare fees for 3-5 years old, multicultural childcare fees, disabled childcare fees, and early childhood tuition fees must directly submit applications to daycare centers designated as night extension, and children who are nurtured in other daycare centers in the daytime can use them after 19:30 and up to 60 hours a month.

As of the end of September 2021, Uijeongbu City operates a total of 40 night extension daycare centersIn addition, in order to improve the quality of night extended childcare, operating and labor costs are supported if there are two or more childcare children in the night extended class and the total number of childcare hours is more than 20 hours a month.

Currently, subsidies are provided by applying special cases and easing standards to consider the closure situation due to COVID-19 and to continuously provide vulnerable childcare services.

Uijeongbu City plans to create a childcare environment where more guardians can leave their childrenwithout anxiety until late by designating five additional night extension daycare centers in the second half of this year to meet various childcare demands arising from diversification of working types and increased double-income couples.

야간연장 어린이집이란 기준보육시간(07:30~19:30) 이후 최대 24:00 까지 연장해 아동을 보육하는 어린이집으로 야간연장 보육료는 국가에서 전액 지원하고 있다. 야간연장 보육은 만 0~2세 연장보육료,만 3~5세 누리과정보육료, 다문화보육료, 장애아보육료, 유아학비 지원을 받는 아동의 보호자가 야간연장으로 지정된 어린이집에 직접 신청서를 제출해야 하며, 다른 어린이집이나 유치원에서 주간보육을 하는 아동도 19:30이후, 월 60시간까지 보육료 부담 없이 이용 가능하다.의정부시는 2021년 9월 말 기준으로 총 40개소의 야간연장 어린이집을 운영하고 있다. 

또한 야간연장 보육의 질 향상을 위해 해당 야간연장반의 보육아동이 2명 이상이고, 보육시간 총합이 월 20시간 이상일 경우 운영비 및 인건비를 지원하고 있다.

현재는 코로나19로 인한 휴원 상황 고려 및 지속적인 취약보육 서비스 제공을 위하여 특례를 적용, 기준을 완화하여 보조금을 지원하고 있다.

의정부시는 근로형태 다변화·맞벌이 부부 증가 등에 따라 발생하는 다양한 보육수요를 충족하기 위해 올해 하반기에 야간연장 어린이집 5개소를 추가 지정하여 더 많은 보호자가 늦은 시간까지 안심하고 아이를 맡길 수 있는 보육환경을 조성할 계획이다.

안병용 의정부시장은“일과 가정의 양립을 위해 부모의 육아부담을 줄이고 보다 안전한 보육 환경을 조성하여 아이 키우기 좋은 의정부시가 되도록 노력하겠다”고 밝혔다.
