Seongnam City Cultural Family Support Center (Center Director Park Seo-young) held a total of six sessions of "visiting multicultural understanding education" and "multicultural education" focusing on food culture for first-year students in the Department of Food Industry and Dining every Monday from November 15 to November 29th.

This training was conducted at the request of Eulji University to enhance students' understanding of multicultural society and to strengthen their global capabilities by indirectly learning other countries' cultures through marriage immigrants that can be met within the community.

The first round was conducted with educational content that enhances understanding of multiculturalism by examining the prejudices against multiculturalism inherent in us and watching videos to improve multicultural awareness. Subsequently, multicultural instructors from China, the Philippines, Vietnam, Nepal, and Mongolia conducted multicultural education to introduce food culture and diet in each country.

In particular, instructors from each country in charge of multicultural education are professional multicultural instructors who have obtained second or third-degree global education instructors and actively conduct multicultural education in the community through the "Global Education Instructor Certification Course" held at the center from March to May.

Through this training, Korea is also about to enter a multicultural society, a center official said. "I hope it will serve as an opportunity for students to meet and communicate with marriage immigrants living in the region to improve awareness of cultural diversity and increase their sensitivity to multicultural understanding."

1강은 우리 안에 내재 된 다문화에 대한 편견을 살펴보고, 다문화 인식개선을 위한 영상을 시청하는 등 다문화에 대한 이해를 높이는 교육 내용으로 진행되었다. 이어 2강부터 6강은 중국과 필리핀, 베트남, 네팔, 몽골 출신의 다문화 강사가 각 나라의 음식문화와 식생활 등을 소개하는 다문화 교육을 진행했다.

특히, 이번에 다문화 교육을 맡은 각 나라별 강사는 지난 3월부터 5월까지 센터에서 진행한 결혼이민자 취업교육 '글로벌교육지도사 자격증취득과정'을 통해 글로벌교육지도사 2급 또는 3급 자격증을 취득하고, 지역사회 내에서 활발히 다문화 교육을 진행하고 있는 전문적인 실력을 갖춘 다문화 강사이다.

센터 관계자는 이번 교육을 통해 “한국도 곧 다문화사회로의 진입을 앞두고 있다”며 학생들이 지역에 거주하는 결혼이민자를 직접 만나고 소통하는 기회를 통해 “문화 다양성에 대한 인식 향상과 다문화 이해 감수성이 조금이나마 높아지는 계기가 되길 바란다”고 밝혔다.
